This is Popcorn one of the Community Cats my human cares for. And yes, she is fixed!
Greetings Felines and the humans who serve us!
Today is a special day! It’s National Feral Cat Day 2014!
All cats are special whether they are indoor, outdoor, live with people, or free-roaming without a human to own. Today however, we honor and bring awareness to feral cats or community cats as my human likes to refer to them. Community cats can include urban (street) cats, country (barn) cats, tame cats, wild (feral) cats, cats living in managed colonies, and strays surviving on handouts.
Alley Cat Allies (one of my favorite groups) launched National Feral Cat Day in 2001 and it is observed each year on October 16. The purpose is to raise awareness about feral cats, promote Trap-Neuter-Return, and recognize the millions of compassionate Americans who care for them. The theme for this year’s National Feral Cat Day is “TNR: From the Alley…to Main Street. ”
My human and I are big advocates of Trap Neuter Return or TNR for short. This is the method of humanely trapping feral cats, having them spayed or neutered, vaccinated, ear-tipped for easy identification and then returning them to their colony to live out their lives. For more info about TNR click here.
Happy National Feral Cat Day 2014 and thanks to Alley Cat Allies for all the work they have done and continue to do in bringing awareness to the public about these special cats!
Meow and Namaste!

Who’s practicing yoga on the Feline Yogi Yoga Cat Mat?
Sophia is! That’s who!
Sophia having a “me day” on her Feline Yogi Yoga Cat Mat
Sophia is our Feline Yogi Yoga Cat of the week! Since we are celebrating Mother’s Day this Sunday, it’s purr-fect timing for featuring Sophia who is the mother of several litters of kittens. This gorgeous girl is super sweet and we honor her for being such a great mom and raising so many beautiful kittens.
Sophia lived on the streets for quite some time fending for herself and her kittens. Lucky for her Luxe Paws, the Los Angeles based neighborhood animal welfare group in the Los Feliz/SilverLake area came to her rescue. They along with one of their key volunteers Jennifer Lauricelli, made sure she got spayed so she no longer has to worry about raising kittens ever again. She’s been there and done that and now it’s time for her to focus on herself and that includes practicing yoga on her Feline Yogi Yoga Cat Mat.
Jennifer is now her human and Sophia could not be more thrilled. Jennifer provides a great home for Sophia to practice yoga, meditate, and enjoy being the goddess kitty that she is!
Happy Mother’s Day Sophia and Meow and Namaste! You are quite the yogini!
Additional Note from Feline Yogi: Feline Yogi loves kittens but unfortunately there are way too many and not enough good homes available. Because of this Feline Yogi is a strong advocate of Trap Neuter Return programs (TNR). Please click HERE for more info and please consider getting involved in TNR in your local area.
