Here’s to a Cat-tastic 2014!!

Greetings Felines and the humans who serve us! And Happy New Year!

Hanging out and taking it easy this past week

Hanging out and taking it easy this past week

I, Pippy (being European at heart) took an extended vacation this past holiday season. I did not return back to my duties as CEO of Feline Yogi on January 2, like many of my counterparts in the American business world. Instead I took several more days, lounged around, and humored my human by letting her take pictures of me for Instagram!

When one of my humans this past week asked me “Pippy what are your New Year’s Resolutions?”, I was at  first taken aback!  Pippy does not make resolutions!  Resolutions were invented for humans to make them feel empowered for the first week of the year. And as we all know,  by mid-January nary a word is spoken again about their oh so ambitious resolutions!

My human all excited about the New Year and the Resolutions she will not keep!

My human all excited about the New Year and the Resolutions she will not keep!

I have never once heard either of my humans following up in March, August, or even late January on how their resolutions are going for them. No, not once! And do you know why? Because they have forgotten them by that time!

However, after much contemplation I decided why not!! I can play the ” New Year’s Resolutions” game and unlike humans I will keep mine! Below are my resolutions for 2014 and I promise that I will get back to you in late January as to how it’s going!

  • Sleep more
  • Pose for more Instagram pictures
  • Watch more Bird T.V.
  • Take up more room on the bed at night
  • Walk on more computer keyboards
  • Get on my human’s yoga mat when she gets it out (yes I know I have my own yoga mat but that’s not the point!)
  • Jump up on more “no no places” like the kitchen cabinet, the male human’s computer table, the lap of my female human’s mother who does not like cat hair on her designer outfits, etc…

Until Next time….Meow and Namaste to All! And Best Wishes for a cat-tastic 2014!!

This Holiday Season: Adopt! Don’t Shop!

Greetings Felines and the humans who serve us!

As a kitten I was found on the street and look at me now!

The holiday season is upon us and many humans are shopping till they drop! Now Pippy here has no problem with shopping. As a matter of fact my humans do quite a bit of shopping themselves, especially the male one who loves electronics. We kitties don’t really get this human obsession with collecting all sorts of paraphernalia but as long as it doesn’t affect us, then shop away!

I’ve been very busy dealing with lots of shoppers this holiday season

However, (and there’s always a however!) Pippy does have a request to make. If you know anyone who is interested in a feline companion this year, please ask them to not shop but instead consider adopting from a shelter or rescue group. You might even consider taking in a kitty who is living on the street or is in a home with humans who can no longer take care of them.

All of the places I mention above have very enlightened yoga kitties who would make a wonderful addition to any home. At this time in history you humans are in dire need of enlightenment, tranquility, and equanimity. A feline can help those of your species develop these virtues and more. Well maybe not the enlightenment part but it doesn’t hurt to aim high does it?

The benefits of adopting are numerous. Most importantly, you’ll be saving a life. You’ll also save money! And with the money you save, you can then go shop and buy all kinds of yummy treats and cat toys for you new feline companion.

I’m getting ready to practice on one of these yoga mats

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season so far and that you humans are getting in a couple of yoga poses here and there. Please note that we kitties certainly are!

Until Next time….

Meow and Namaste to All!

Love,

Pippy

Neko: Fur-ever With Us!

Greetings Felines and the humans who serve us!

Neko: ?-2013 Rest in Peace Sweet Boy

Neko: ?-2013
Rest in Peace Sweet Boy

A very important member of our family crossed over the Rainbow Bridge this past week. Neko came to us in the summer of 2012 when my human found him in front of our house after her evening walk.  He was skinny and had multiple health problems. The vets estimated him to be between 15-20 years old. Several times he was not expected to make it but he, my humans, a very determined vet, and the rest of us kitties never gave up!  We all pulled together to see Neko through!

Neko loved bags!

Neko loved bags!

Eventually Neko’s health problems got under control and he lived a full and comfortable life with us even though it was a short period of time.  He also played an important part in developing the Feline Yogi Cat Mat and was always willing to pose for the camera and demonstrate the stellar yoga techniques that only a wise kitty of his age could do!

Lion Pose kept Neko looking young!

A few days before he transitioned, Neko suddenly stopped eating and was not feeling well. My humans took him to the vet and found out he was in heart failure and had various other complications as well.  We all enjoyed a few more days together until Neko told us he was ready to continue on the next part of his journey.

When my human's dad came to town, Neko loved curling up with him while he napped!

When my human’s dad came to town, Neko loved curling up with him while he napped!

My humans are sad and often break into tears unexpectedly. I keep reminding myself to have patience with them and that my job is to help them see that Neko is still with us and will be forever. I know it seems like we kitties are never with you humans long enough but that is part of the plan. One of the many reasons we bond with you humans on this planet is to teach you that life is eternal and nothing ever dies. Beings may change form but the story does not end there. Far from it!

Neko loved technology!

Meow and Namaste dear Neko! You were a great kitty housemate and I wish you Godspeed on the next phase of your journey. I will see you on the other side one day and we will practice a few “downward facing cat” poses together. Just like old times!

And God asked the feline spirit
“Are you ready to come home?”

“Oh, yes, quite so”, replied the precious soul.
“And as a cat, you know I am most able to decide anything for myself.”

“Are you coming then?” asked God
“Soon”, replied the whiskered angel.
“But I must come slowly
My human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.”

“But don’t they understand?” asked God –
“That you’ll never leave them?”
“That your souls are intertwined, for all eternity,
That nothing is created or destroyed,
It just is . . . forever and ever and ever?”

“Eventually they will understand” replied the cat
“For I will “Whisper” in her heart – that I am always with her.
I just am . . . forever and ever and ever!

Friends of Felines’ Rescue Center

Greetings Felines and the humans who serve us!

Freinds of Feline Rescue Center

What a super cool place the Friends of Felines’ Rescue Center is! Notice one of the kitties practicing yoga on the green Yoga Cat Mat!

I have some super special Feline Yogis to tell you about this week. Several weeks back my human and I received an order from the United Kingdom! Pippy here has never been to the U.K. but my human has and she said it’s a fabulous place.

Benny a very handsome feline and his human Lucy bought two Yoga Cat Mats to donate to the Friends of Felines’ Rescue Center in Defiance, Ohio. They are a great rescue and home to many little yogi cats while they await for their furr-ever homes!

The purple and green Feline Yogi Yoga Cat Mats make a wonderful addition to this fun Kitty Place

And get this! They have a 24 hour kitty webcam where you can see the kitties in action. It’s a lot of fun and my human has become addicted. You would think she had enough kitties at our house to get her fix but I guess humans can never get enough of we fabulous felines. Check out the Kitty Cam by going to this link: 24/7 Kitty Cam

Every evening the group has a special event called “Boxes” and they open presents that have been sent to the kitties. Below is a U-tube video of the Feline Yogi Cat Mats being opened. About six minutes in you can see the Yoga Cat Mats being opened.

This is a great group and I’m so glad my human and I found out about them. One little yogi cat that we would like to highlight is an amazing little cat with Cerebellar hypoplasia (CH) called Derecho, and he especially loves mats! He is the kitty you see practicing on the mat in the photos above. You can read more about his touching story by clicking here. Derecho, we hope you enjoy practicing on your Feline Yogi Cat Mat! You are quite the Yogi!

Meow and Namaste to all at the Friends of Felines’ Rescue Center and to Benny and Lucy for their generosity.

Are Cats Taking Over the Internet?

Contemplating what it means to belong to a superior species and plotting more ways to take over the Internet ( I mean Caternet!)

Greetings Felines and the humans who serve us!

Have cats taken over the internet? You bet we have!!

But this is nothing new to any feline or human. We practically own the internet and more and more humans are acknowledging our superiority and understanding that they way to be truly happy is to serve and cater to the feline population. Every day more and more kitties show up all over the web to enlighten and entertain those of the human persuasion. We felines are on a roll and have no plans for stopping until every bit of bandwidth is taken up with cats!

Just recently one of the world’s most respectable investigative news organizations The Guardian   asked people to submit their pictures of cats doing yoga. (Yes, The Guardian has their priorities straight! ) Hundreds of pictures were submitted and they chose 12 of the best and featured them in a special photo gallery. Do you know who was included in that gallery? None other than Fergie the Cat who was our  Featured Feline Yogi back in May.  His human submitted a picture of him doing a pose on what else but his Feline Yogi Cat Mat!  Check him out and all the other accomplished yoga cats by clicking on the link below.

Click here for cats doing yoga: You will not be disappointed!

Soon one will not be able to Google any subject without a cat showing up on your search. Looking for info on how to save money? No problem, a site with cat pictures and videos will come up first in your search.  Wondering what is going on internationally in the news? Again, a cat site will come up and that’s really all you need to know!

Here I am doing an intense stretching pose

The other day my humans were watching yet another UTube cat video and commenting to each other about how cats have taken over the internet. Since I consider them my intellectual inferiors I try to avoid conversing to much because neither is very intellectually stimulating.   It did occur to me however that since we kitties have taken over the internet I’d like to propose a few vocabulary changes. The internet should now be referred to as the “Caternet” and when one talks about going online you will be going “fe-line” instead! What do you think?

Until Next time….

Meow and Namaste!

Love,

Pippy

Kitty Bungalow has a New School House!

Greetings Felines and the humans who serve us!

I sent my humans to the Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats open house yesterday. They have a brand new school house for the kitty students and Feline Yogi is thrilled that yoga is on the curriculum for these yoga kittens who are soon to be master yoga cats!

Kitty Bungalow New School House

Kitty Bungalow’s New School house

When headmistress Shawn Simons emailed me to ask if Feline Yogi could donate some yoga mats to the Charm School I immediately said yes yes yes!! I didn’t even consult with my human but she of course was on board as well.

We love Kitty Bungalow and the work they are doing in Los Angeles to find homes for street cats and more importantly they are strong advocates of TNR which is Trap.Neuter. Return. This is the method of humanely trapping feral cats, having them spayed or neutered, vaccinated, ear-tipped for easy identification and then returning them to their colony to live out their lives.Click here to read more about TNR if you are not already familiar with this practice.

In the School House playgound/garden for the community cats, there's a strong reminder of TNR!

In the School House playgound/garden for the community cats, there’s a strong reminder of TNR!

TNR is where it’s at felines and humans. If we want to stop the overpopulation of unwanted kitties, the senseless killings that go on in the shelters throughout this country and the world, then we must get those kitties fixed! As mentioned on Kitty Bungalow’s website:  “Did you know that two unaltered cats and their offspring exponentially over 7 years could produce 420,000 cats?!” That’s a lot of cats!

I, Pippy, am fixed and thank goodness! I have no desire to raise kittens or have my lean trim svelte yoga figure distorted. I am a career gal and a master yoga practitioner. There are enough kittens in the world so I’m doing my part to help with this over-population problem.

If you’re not in the Los Angeles area and can’t help out at Kitty Bungalow, please get active with groups in your local area that support TNR. By doing so you make us kitties’ lives so much better.

A Yoga Cat’s Work is Never Done!

Greetings Felines and the humans who serve us!

Making sure my human is not slacking off!

It’s been a busy summer at Feline Yogi. As CEO I wear many hats. I do quite a bit of multitasking and manage an employee who belongs to that most impossible of species -the human!

I wish I had kitties as employees but such is not the case. Working with humans has taught me patience and acceptance. No wonder we felines are such great yogis. We are constantly given the opportunity to cultivate equanimity. And we do it well, don’t we?

I know I have been lax on my blogging this summer but don’t think for a minute that Pippy has been slacking off! Now my human is a different story! I have made the executive decision (one gets to do this when one is CEO) that Feline Yogi needs to concentrate on the retail end of our business a bit more at this time.  My human and I have been busy with yoga cat mat production and developing some new products for kitties made out of you guessed it- yoga mat material!  We’ll keep you posted in the months ahead.

This does not mean Pippy will not be blogging. I will! I just may not be blogging every single week but I will pop in several times a month.  You can always join me on Facebook and of course I’m available by email at pippy@felineyogi.com

Here we are featured on Fab Europe in German!

Here we are featured on Fab Europe in German!

Last but not least Feline Yogi did a sale on Fab Europe a few weeks ago. Click on the image above for more info but you won’t be able to read it unless you speak German. I speak all languages so it wasn’t a problem for me.

Some  pictures of our new yoga mat colors were needed for the sale. A fabulous L.A. based photographer named Susan Weingartner came over to take our pictures. I thought I would be mainly supervising the photo shoot but Pippy was needed as a model as well! Since I do what it takes, I willingly agreed to pose on the purple mat. What do you think? Am I Yoga Journal material?

Yoga Cat Fun

Greetings Felines and the humans who serve us!

How many of you felines out there have stressed out humans? Does your human over-schedule themselves, over-obligate themselves, and set up unreasonable expectations for one of a lesser species?  I know mine does! And my human practices yoga almost every single day! Not that one would know!

It’s important that we felines remind our humans to have some fun now and then. DISCLAIMER: AFTER OUR NEEDS ARE TAKEN CARE OF OBVIOUSLY! Yoga is a serious thing but it can also be fun. Felines take a look at this 30 second video I found on You Tube of a cat and her human having fun while practicing yoga. Share with your own humans and have some fun this week! Life is too short to be taken seriously all the time.

Until next time…..

Meow and Namaste!

Love,

Pippy
