Pippy the Enlightened Feline Yoga Cat
The Yogic lifestyle is all about reaching enlightenment and what better way for humans to do so than to adopt a cat! Being that June is Adopt a Cat Month this the purr-fect time! Who wouldn’t want a live in yoga master and guru in their home?
Now I know most of you who read my blog already have a cat or two ( or three, or four, or five, etc…) in your life. But what about those people you know who aren’t so fortunate?
Do you know anyone who is thinking about bringing a feline companion into their home? Do you know anyone who is seeking enlightenment and would like to intern under the tutelage of an expert feline yogi or yogini? Please talk up our species and encourage them to go to their local animal shelter or rescue group and adopt one of my fellow feline brothers or sisters.
Here I am as kitten waiting to be adopted
Yoga is not only about making a difference in own your life but in the lives of others as well. We cats are great at this because we have made a difference in so many human lives and continue to do so. We love unconditionally and teach you about relaxation, napping, living in the moment, etc…
Make a difference in a cat’s life this month and I promise you we will make a difference in yours! Adopt a cat this month or encourage someone else to do so!
Before I sign off on my column this week, I would like to share with you the “Starfish Story.” My human met a lovely lady named Connie at the Blog Paws conference this past May and she gave her a very cool starfish necklace. I often like to play with the jewelry my human wears around her neck and while pawing at the starfish the other day, she read me the story of the starfish that came on the card that accompanied the necklace. The story is below so enjoy and learn!
And a special thank you to Connie from the blog Tails from the Foster Kittens for making such a difference in the lives of so many cats!
The Starfish Necklace
Once upon a time, there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.
One day, as he was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance to the day, and so, he walked faster to catch up.
As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, and that what he was doing was not dancing at all. The young man was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean.
He came closer still and called out “Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?”
The young man paused, looked up, and replied “Throwing starfish into the ocean.”
“I must ask, then, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?” asked the somewhat startled wise man.
To this, the young man replied, “The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them in, they’ll die.”
Upon hearing this, the wise man commented, “But, young man, do you not realize that there are miles and miles of beach and there are starfish all along every mile? You can’t possibly make a difference!”
At this, the young man bent down, picked up yet another starfish, and threw it into the ocean. As it met the water, he said, “It made a difference for that one.”
