Tribute to a Very Special Yoga Kitten

Yoga Kitten Sweet Baby James on his Yoga Cat Mat

Greetings felines and the humans who serve us!

I have a very special posting this week. I am combining my weekly yoga column and my Featured Feline Yogi Yoga Cat column all into one. This week I pay special tribute to a kitten who blessed this world for a very brief yet impactful time during his stay on this planet. Please know that this post is not meant to be sad but instead a celebration of a wonderful being and a very accomplished yoga kitten.

Sweet Baby James was from a litter of lucky kittens that the Boston Animal Rescue League rescued. His foster family was one of the best. I can personally vouch for this because my human has met them (Amelia and John) and she says they were some of the most wonderful people you will ever meet. Amelia writes a fabulous blog called Cat and Birdie.

During Sweet Baby James’ time on this earth, he enjoyed the other kittens, his mommy, and his wonderful human fosters. As you can see from the picture above, he is living proof that all kittens come into this world accomplished yogis. He was right at home on the Yoga Cat Mat and knew exactly what to do!

Then heaven decided it needed another angel so Sweet Baby James was called home. But here’s a secret Pippy is going to share with you humans so listen up! You poor humans grieve too much and think it’s the end. We felines understand why you feel this way because after all you are mere humans and can’t always see the big picture.  But Pippy is here to tell you that we all live on forever. This includes yoga cats.  We may go to heaven when we leave but we come back to visit you from time to time.

My human sometimes gets sad when she thinks about the cats who have owned her yet have now transitioned. I tell her to not to be sad because Pippy sees her spirit cats from time to time as so do my other cats mates. They check in on her constantly to make sure she and her husband are ok. When Pippy makes her transition one day I will check in on them as well!

Pippy has already communicated with Sweet Baby James and he wants all of us to know that he is doing well and is at peace. He is so grateful to his foster family and will love them always. Sweet Baby James has also agreed to meet Pippy when I cross over the rainbow bridge myself one day. See you on the other side Sweet Baby James! You are loved always!

Until next week….

Meow and Namaste!

Love,

Pippy

Feline Greenies: The Purr-fect treat for Yoga Cats

Greetings felines and the humans who serve us!

Last week I wrote about how my human had just returend from the  Blog Paws Conference and came back with several bags of Feline Greenies treats yet was holding out on me! The nerve!

When I demanded she give me some she said she was waiting for a special occasion.    A special occasion?? Everyday is a special occaasion in Pippy’s book. I told her that she better get me those treats asap or I would suddenly start waking her up before 3am with the sound of me throwing up multiple hairballs.  She began to walk to the cabinet where they were stashed and as soon as she opened the door I grabbed those Feline Greenies and ran!

I was just about to tear the bag open when she grabbed it from me and gave me a handful. (Lucky for her she did this! ) Then she started giving them to the other cats in the household as well. I’m fine with that since there are still several bags in the house. Plus my human and I came to an agreement. She will be buying these treats going forward on a regular basis.

Feline Greenies are irresistably tasty and healthy to boot! They are the purr-fect treat for a feline yogini as myself. They give me energy and stamina to practice some very advanced transcendental meditation poses like the one you I’m practciing in the picture below.

Until next time….

Greetings Felines and the humans who serve us!

It’s Pippy here and I’m taking over the Featured Feline Yogi Cat articles. My human will chime in on this blog from time to time (and when I allow her) but right now I have other tasks I need her to work on so my time can be freed up for more creative endeavors and big picture strategic thinking.

This week I am happy to feature as the Feline Yogi Yoga Cat of the week one of my fellow house cat mates. Shiloh aka the Buddha Cat as we like to call him came into this world like all cats enlightened and a natural yogi. Shiloh is very laid back and accepting of what comes into his life. He goes with the flow when it comes to change.

If you listen carefully, I will impart my knowledge and wisdome to you

Feline Yogi Buddha Cat Shiloh

Shiloh started out as an only cat and then his humans brought in another. And then another, and then another, and then another……

Shiloh knows what it’s like to accept and embrace change. When I came into the household I made it very clear that I was taking over. Some of the other cats resisted a bit but not Shiloh! He’s the most zen like of all cats I know. He is always patient and laid back except when the female human doesn’t get out of bed fast enough to feed us. Often he will bite her ankle to coax her out of bed. I find this extremely funny! Hee hee mew mew!

You are a stellar yogi yoga cat Shiloh and Pippy thinks humans can learn a lot from you!

Meow and Namaste!

I can't wait till it's time again for resting pose!

Shiloh likes to do vinyasa yoga when the mood strikes him!

Greetings felines and the humans who serve us!

What a week it has been for Pippy! My human just returned from the Blog Paws Conference and she is exhausted. This does not bode well for me as I have a Yoga Cat Mat business to run and she is not yet back up to speed.  I have a “to do” list a mile long of things I need her to do but she keeps oohing and aahing at pictures of a kitten named Triscuit that she met at the conference.

I also found out from Sparkle the Cat’s blog that there were Greenies treats given away and she has not shared them with me yet. The nerve! I will find them yet. How long does she plan to keep them away from me?

I need some Greenies treats and I need them right away as the last few days were quite stressful.

The Greenies treats I am in search of !

The Greenies treats I am in search of !

The male human was in charge of our meals while the female human was away and they were not always prompt. In addition, he had quite the time giving Neko his pill and liquid medicine. At one point, Neko spit out his pill and the male human spent an insane amount of time looking for it under the stove before he finally realized it was not worth it and he just got out another damn pill from the bottle. Then Neko spewed his liquid medicine all over the place and some got on me. I then had to spend time grooming and by the time dinner was served I barely had an appetite anymore.

I gave my human a pass yesterday but today is Tuesday so I expect her to rise to the occasion and get back on track! I, Pippy will be taking the day off and what exactly will I be doing you may ask?  Lots of yoga and searching for the Greenies treats!

As soon as the craziness settles down I will come out and roll out my yoga mat!

Is it safe to come out and practice yoga now?

Until next time….

Meow and Namaste!

Love,

Pippy

Pippy practicing a resting pose on her yoga mat

Pippy practicing a resting pose on her yoga mat

Greetings felines and the humans who serve us!

Spring is in the air and I, Pippy, am taking a well deserved break from blogging this week. My column plus the Featured Feline Yogi Yoga Cat of the week will resume next week. My human is attending the Blog Paws Conference in Wash D.C. this week so I will be holding down the Feline Yogi shop while she heads to the other side of the continent for whatever it is you humans do at those events you call conferences.

Pippy does not like to travel so I will be staying in Los Angeles.  As a 5 month old kitten, I traveled to Valencia,CA and then to Beverly Hills, CA to do a photo shoot for a cat food company. It was a fun experience but after that I decided that traveling was not Pippy’s cup of tea plus I would have no patience with the TSA if I had to go through airport security. My human asked me if I wanted to be a show cat but I said no way!  Pippy prefers to hang out and do yoga.

I have everything I need in my humble abode on the West side of Los Angeles. I have a window to observe the birds and that handsome outdoor orange cat that I call “The Gentleman Caller”, a yoga mat for practicing yoga, and plenty of comfortable spots to practice resting pose which is my favorite.

The male human of the household will be our sole servant this week so I hope he is up to the task! He does not get up as early as the female human but I and my fellow cat mates will change that this week! We will have him rising and shining by 4:30 am in no time if we do our job correctly!

Until next week….

Meow and Namaste!

Love,

Pippy

Feline Yogi Yoga Cat of the Week!

Who’s practicing yoga on the Feline Yogi Yoga Cat Mat?

Sophia is! That’s who!

Sophia having a "me day" on her Feline Yogi Yoga Cat Mat

Sophia having a “me day” on her Feline Yogi Yoga Cat Mat

Sophia is our Feline Yogi Yoga Cat of the week! Since we are celebrating Mother’s Day this Sunday, it’s purr-fect timing for featuring Sophia who is the mother of several litters of kittens. This gorgeous girl is super sweet and we honor her for being such a great mom and raising so many beautiful kittens.

Sophia lived on the streets for quite some time fending for herself and her kittens. Lucky for her Luxe Paws, the Los Angeles based neighborhood animal welfare group in the Los Feliz/SilverLake area came to her rescue.  They along with one of their key volunteers Jennifer Lauricelli, made sure she got spayed so she no longer has to worry about raising kittens ever again.  She’s been there and done that and now it’s time for her to focus on herself and that includes practicing yoga on her Feline Yogi Yoga Cat Mat.

Jennifer is now her human and Sophia could not be more thrilled. Jennifer provides a great home for Sophia to practice yoga, meditate, and enjoy being the goddess kitty that she is!

Happy Mother’s Day Sophia and Meow and Namaste! You are quite the yogini!

Additional Note from Feline Yogi: Feline Yogi loves kittens but unfortunately there are way too many and not enough good homes available. Because of this Feline Yogi is a strong advocate of Trap Neuter Return programs (TNR). Please click HERE for more info and please consider getting involved in TNR in your local area.

Pippy enjoying her catnip

Pippy enjoying her catnip

Greetings felines and the humans who serve us!

Pippy received the following email this week: Dear Pippy, My precious feline yogi yoga cat loves cat nip and especially likes to partake of it while on her new Feline Yogi Yoga Cat Mat. She does enjoy the catnip in her toys but loves it even more when it’s loose so she can roll around in it. How much catnip is too much and should I worry that she is becoming addicted?

The Yoga Cat Mat is perfect for catnip!

The Yoga Cat Mat is perfect for catnip!

Pippy here is a big fan of catnip and The Yoga Cat Mat is the perfect place for any yoga cat to partake of this delightful treat! The catnip can be contained and not make a mess all over the floor. Afterwards kitty can practice some poses since she is already on her mat.

As far as becoming addicted, allow Pippy to point out that addiction is more of a human trait and you are projecting your humanity onto felines.  Felines are too refined and enlightened to become “addicted” to anything or anybody especially yoga cats! So rest easy in knowing that no matter how much catnip your kitty companion partakes in you will not ever have to foot an expensive rehab bill or take her to any 12 step meetings.

Playing with catnip

Playing with catnip

Pippy loves catnip and would partake several times a day if my human would bring it out more often or if I could figure out how to open the container that she keeps it in by myself!

Until next week….

Meow and Namaste!

Pippy

Cinny and Ferg are!  That’s who!

Cinny and Ferg  became best cat friends forever the moment they saw each other. Cinny had been an only cat for quite sometime and made it perfectly clear to his humans that it better remain that way!

Being an only cat gave him more time to perfect his yoga poses and ponder what it means to be such an enlightened being without being bothered by another enlightened being.  However when Ferg unexpectedly joined the household it was friendship at first sight! He quickly made it clear that Ferg must stay and that finding him another home was not an option.

Cinny and Ferg love their yoga cat mat and take turns letting each other use it. More importantly they love each other which is what the true spirit of yoga is all about!

Meow and Namste Cinny and Ferg! You are both fantabulous feline yogis!
