Greetings Felines and Greetings to the humans who serve you!
What do I love as much as yoga? The answer would be books about cats! And boy do I have a wonderful one to tell you about.
My human and I recently had the honor to read Tortitude: The BIG Book of Cats with a BIG Attitude by Ingrid King. Not only is it an excellent and informative read but the physical book is gorgeous as well. It is beautifully designed and includes pictures of some of the most gorgeous tortes ever! My human has the book nicely displayed on her desk and likes to take breaks from her work so she can ooh and aah at the pictures of all the adorable torte kitties.
I on the other hand know my species is adorable so I was more interested in reading about tortoiseshell cats and what makes them unique. Ms.King does a great job in paying tribute to one of the most feisty, unpredictable, and fiercely independent felines in the domestic cat kingdom. Her book goes into great depth on the unique genetics and what makes a torte a torte! Not only are the personalities of tortes special but the coat color as well plays a large part. A torte is not a breed and tortoiseshell markings can be found in many breeds including the Abyssinian, British short hair, Somali, Siamese, Sphinx, and many many more. I could go on and on but I don’t want to give too much away because I want you to read this beautiful tribute to these very special cats.
After reading the book, my human told me I was probably a torte. I told her to email and ask Ms.King of which she did. I already knew the answer but I thought it best she hear it from someone other than me. She was told that I am a torbie! A torbie is a tortie with tabby stripes. There are other torbes featured in the book including Artoo and Grit and if you get the book, you can see what I’m talking about. My human then told me I was a real piece of work! I just rejoiced inside and acknowledged to myself that my work is done! She finally gets what I’m about!
